Recipes
I used to have a site completely devoted to vegetarian 'junk food' and while I still enjoy most salty/bad for you food, I'm shifting the focus. Now I'm more interested in making cheap and tasty food. Some is still a little junky, but all of it is still vegetarian.

'chicken' salad
(great for sandwiches)

Ingredients
1/2 cup tvp (textured vegetable protein)
veganaise
1/4 yellow onion
pepper
salt
thyme
sage
rosemary
Directions
Cook the dried tvp (equal parts tvp and water) in sausepan until soft. Remove from pan and let completely cool. Once tvp is cool add veganaise, onion and spices to taste. You may want more veganaise or onion according to taste.

sausage gravy
(good for biscuits)

Ingredients
1/4 cup water
1/4 soy milk
flour (measure by eye)
butter/margarine (about 2 tps)
3 Morninstar farms breakfast patties
salt
pepper
onion powder
Directions
First cook the patties on low heat in a skillet in water and soy milk until the soften. Once they are sufficiently thawed, chop them up, turning them into a sausage crumble consistency. As they crumble add pepper and onion powder to taste. Add about 2 tsp butter to the pan, then add flour in small amounts until it forms a thick gravy, and stir with a fork. If you add too much flour, just add more milk.

pizza burger subs

ingredients
Morningstar Farms Breakfast Patties (3 per sub)
Shredded Mozerella Cheese (or mozella imitation soy cheese)
Spagetti Sauce or Pizza Sauce
Pepper
Onion Powder
Grated Parmisian
Sub Rolls
Directions
Preheat oven to 450. Thaw Patties on a non-stick frying pan. Then liberally shake pepper and onion powder on either side of them. On a baking sheet place the open sub rolls. Spread the sauce on one side liberally. Then add the patties, and cover with cheese. Leave the subs open so that they will bake easier. Bake the subs for about 10 minutes, then add grated soy parmesan and enjoy!

tacos

ingredients
soy crumble (can be found in frozen foods, or in produce sections with other soy products)
Taco Seasoning Packet ( prefer the generic non name brand kind)
Pepper
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Salsa
Water
+ Whatever toppings you like
I like to add:
lettuce
chopped tomato
green olives
shredded cheddar (or fake cheddar cheese)
sour cream or the 'better than sour cream' by tofutti
Directions
In sauce pan add crumbled soy, 1/3 cup water 1/4th cup salsa (I eyeball most of these measurements) and powdered taco flavoring. Over medium heat (soy cooks very fast) I add pepper, onion powder, and a little garlic powder to taste. Cook the shells however you prefer, add toppings and enjoy! Using soy instead of hamburger in this recipe means you will be done cooking MUCH quicker!

Harvest Cookies

ingredients
1/2 c. shortening
1 & 1/2 c. sugar
1 egg's worth of replacer (I used ENER-G's Egg Replacer)
1 15 oz can of pumpkin
2 & 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cloves
2 tsp cinnamon
1 c. dried fruit (I did 1/2 c. 'cranraisins' and 1/2 c. raisins)
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 F. In a large bowl mix shortening, sugar, egg replacer, then pumpkin. Next add in dry ingredients, and after thoroughly blended, add the dry fruit.

Drop by tablespoons onto sheets, and bake for 10 minutes, the cookies will get golden. They are soft and cake like when they come out, and of course, quite yummy!
