loss of convenience

Removed from my element
plastic shoes
tread through snow
and slide above ice.
The park bench is wet
and hands freeze as another
Tennessee Williams play is
read and read again
in wait of mass transit.
I whine at the leisure
of convenience.

Back at the usual surroundings
I work
at typing and filing
and stare out windows
where rain continues
and ice builds
on each tree limb.

Snap.

Screen gone
work unsaved.
I sigh and whine
at the loss
of convenience.
