Why I Knit
I knit for a lot of reasons. I knit because I am a twitchy-high-stress-must-be-busy-at-all-moments kind of person. I knit because I love to play with color and form, and fuzzy yarns. I knit because my maternal Grandmother knit.
I am often wrapped up in one of my favorite possessions, the blanket my grandmother made me. When weddings, births, or first apartments happened my grandmother was always ready with a knitted afghan on hand. I never got the chance to learn knitting from her, or truly appreciate the effort that went into these wonderful gifts while she was alive. Still, on nights where I wrap up in her blanket and knit my own project, I am sure she knows what I am doing.

More about me:
I'm Vegan:
I do not consume animal products. I don't eat meat, I don't consume dairy, honey or eggs, and I don't by wool, silk or leather. Obviously as a knitter this affects my fiber choices. This is a personal choice, many knitters at the stitch n bitch I attend knit and spin wool, I find it refreshing that we operate as a tapestry of perspectives not just in our approach to fiber arts, but to life.

Using the breadth of patterns on the internet I found semi matching socks and a hat for a baby expected in the office.

Acorn Camisole by Shirley Paden 01-16-2006
I got this pattern from the Inter weave knits Summer 2005 VOLUME X, NUMBER 2 . I started this tank in the summer, and never quite made the progress I wanted to. Now that I'm home-bound (dead car) I'm tackling all the UFOs in the knit bag.

Eyelit Beanie 01-14-2006
Using a pattern from the Spring 2004 issue of knitters I made this 2nd chemo cap out of Moda Dea striping yarn. It was a quick project perfect for the bus/metro excursions I had pver the weekend.

Rolled Brim Chemo Cap 01-10-2006
I found this pattern via google, but it really turned out nice. A 2nd cousin of mine is undergoing chemo, so I'm sending her two fun hats to keep warm this winter.

Glitter Shawl 01-03-2006
This is the glittery shawl I rang in the new year with. Made of 3 gifted yarns I k5 a boarder on each side, and p3, k2 on working side, and knit straight on the other, making a slight rib of various ribon yarns. Even though this was knit on heft size 13 needles, this project took several months becuase at one point I had to take it all apart to fix a snag. The end result was worth it!

Knit Cap 12-05-05
From a pattern in K1 (that tiny vogue knitting mag) I made this hat using some fun golden ribbon-ish yarn from my stash.

Accidentally on Purpose 06-23-05
Using even the same color from the SNB Nation book, this 'accidentally on purpose' tank involved dropping stitches at the very end to create a lace pattern. I think it looks rather lovely

I pod cozy 06-20-05
My very, very, very sweet husband got me an ipod for my birthday. While spending a Sat. afternoon loading it up with music, I decided to make myself useful while 'ripping' entire 'Jesus and Mary Chain' records. I knit up this quick cozy with left over acrylic yarn in fabulous pink and orange. The body is knit, the top flap, loop and button are crocheted. The whole thing is lined with soft purple fabric that keeps the screen easy to read and smudge free.

Cute Tank 04-20-05
I made this lavender tank out of 100% cotton yarn I was gifted from a member of my SnB. There is still some serious blocking needed before I show a full picture.
It is a tweaked pattern from SnB Nation.

Cabled sock 04-01-05
Using some gifted Catania yarn I made these fabulous socks using a pattern from the winter 'Interweave Knits' magazine. Mmmm socks!

Spider! 03-15-05
When Ms. Stoller emailed my local SnB looking for crochet patterns, I was egged by my friends to make something. After looking at endless pictures, playing with
yarn and pipe cleaners this is what I got. They'll be available for sale soon through my related site.

Cabled Belt 02-27-05
Still whittling down the stash, I decided to make a belt ... an early gift for a family member. The cable pattern wasn't hard at all, and it wasn't long before I didn't even need to keep row count. I still need a buckle though to compliment this belt. The yarn is a simple worsted weight acrylic.

Cute cabled Ear Warmer (aka Nakiska)02-11-05
Determined to still whittle my stash down, I knew I had to get rid of the ton of yarn left over from the orange sweater...and my ears get cold going outside, so I thought I'd try my hand at an extensively cabled project. And thus, this cute project was born. The pattern is from the knitty archives. I don't think my gauge was off, but I definitely had to go with the biggest size. I don't think my head is that big.

A cabled winter hat02-8-05
Quite possibly the worst executed hat project ever. The TLC amore yarn (left over from the striped sweater) does not show off cables very well. If you had this hat in your hand, perhaps you would notice. From far away the hat looks lumpy. This is the 'Basic Cable' hat from 'Stitch n Bitch' nation. The instructiong 'c6f' (meaning cable 3 on holder forward, knit 3) was really confusing to a novice of cables.

Hot Pink Sweater 02-03-05
I am made the TLC 'sassy stripes' sweater out of TLC amore' yarn in hot pink and black. The colors in the pattern were not me at all, but luckily the stripe pattern is easy to adjustk, and the hot pink and black together are indeed sassy. I think the sleeves came out a little weird, but honestly I am super happy with how this came out. I realize though, that I should pick up that much name checked book on 'finishing' sweaters so that I am sure I am doing the end part right.

Blanket 01-20-05
2 lovely ladies in our SnB suffered from a house fire. To let them know how much they are loved, and so that they would have at least one non-smokey-smelling blanket our group organise a rather quick blanket squares drive. 7 people combined knitted and crocheted over 36 squares. We edged and combined them to make this adorable and insanely cozy blanket. The best thing really, is this has motivated our group to start a rotating blanket square drive, so that we do more of these blankets.

Orange Cardigan 01-11-05
My first sweater has so far been a truamatic one. I had to redo the neck, and then later rip out 4 inches of knitting along the main part of the body because my measurements were off. Now I am done, I am rather proud. I got the pattern from here. My variations where the longer neck, ribbed sleeves and bottom.
