2004 Knit Projects

Pink Poncho 12-015-04
Armed with fluffy pink yarn, and a crochet hook I set out to make my neice a 'girlie' poncho. I think I did the trick. I love free-form crochet.

Knit womb 12-05-04
I just loved this pattern on knitty, and decided it would make the perfect wacky gift for a friend!

Blue Wig 12-01-04
This wig pattern intrigued me around Halloween, but it wasn't until I was trying to think of 'different' holiday gifts that I thought I'd take on the challenge. It came out rather cute, and my lovely husband model agrees.

Knit Ornaments 11-29-04
Mini Mittens and Mini Stockings- I found this pattern in the library, and just knew it would be something my Mother in Law would love. Its given me a lot of inspiration on baby sock ideas, but mostly the project actually annoyed me. I found the psuedo rustic colors in the 'sugar n creme cotton' which is not very yeilding to the hand.

Turtles 11-26-04
Bottom of bodies, limbs, head, and tail are crocheted, bodies are really pretty paisley fabric from India.

Lots of hats! 11-23-04
I have lots of yarn. Too much yarn. In cleaning our apartment for t-day, I was faced with the brutal reality that I must use up yarn! So between holiday gifts I am knitting hats for the interfaith charity clothing closet in my area. The hats are acrylic, different colors, double ribbed and cozy! No real pattern.

quick scarf 11-20-04
Still finding crochet a difficult yarn medium, I forced myself to finish a project. I made this purse for the brother-in-law's girlfriend.

quick scarf 11-15-04
A friend had a scarf request. I knit the pink and variegated baby yarn together, alternating the stripeswith a crocheted border in blue-gray.

Baby Sweater 11-05-04
My brother's wife is expecting, which was a great excuse to learn sweater making. After a longer than expected on-line search for a pattern, I found this simple 'No Seam Raglan Baby Sweater'. My first attempt was ripped out as I hadn't placed stitch markers around the arm 'seams', but once that was fixed it was smooth sailing. I added in a pocket to the sweater to make it a little more fun.

Socks 10-25-04
I found this amazing moda dea sassy stripe yarn at a craft store. Most self striping yarn is wool, but this is 100% acrylic with a really soft feel. This pair of sock became a cozy gift for my father in law.

A fuzzy Scarf 10-15-04
Bored with ponchos, goddesses, and the never ending hats, I decided to make a scarf. Using some cotton off of a never-ending cone, and lion brand fun fur I alternated hot pink with a blue green variegated yarn.

A semi-failed tron hat 10-07-04
In an old (1970s) pattern book I found these tron meets planet of the apes looking kid hats. In converting the pattern I made it too big, but it would be great for someone with big hair, or dreds.

Brooke's Poncho 09-04
friend and fellow stitch n bitch attendee wrote this knitting pattern for a cute poncho. I mucked up the lace pattern, but it created a nice swirl effect. I croched rings to sew on, as well as the lacey bottom.

Crocheted Goddess 09-04
After a weekend of teaching myself to 'properly crochet. My whole reason was to finally make the goddess figurine found on nanlets.com

Prisoner Scarf 09-04
I made this scarf to get started on my hallowe'en costume early. The white and yellow panels are knit, and the black border is crocheted. This was the model:

Tank 08-23-04
Using some fabulous ribbon and cotton yarn off of a cone my knitting friend gave me, I finally finished this project that took over a month to finish. The pattern itself was plain, so I added some mock cabling to the front so that it wouldn't look, or be boring to make.

'Lion' 08-10-04
Another crochet project. A friend's baby turned 2, and as she is a leo, I thought this would be the perfect gift. I went sans pattern to make this, and used a combo of lion eyelash yarn, and some other cheap acrylic that had this perfect punchy yellow color. The head and body are one peice, with the legs and tail sewn on.

'Octopus' 07-12-04
Not technically knit, this is a octopus I crocheted sans pattern for my Husband for his birthday. The legs are a little too lumpy for my taste, but I'm proud of the felt features, and the general cuddly nature of this thing.

'Cleo' 07-10-04
I knit up the Cleo halter top using 'Saucy Sport' yarn by Reynolds yarn. Normally even this project would be too high priced for me, but I got some birthday money, so what else was I going to do with it?!?! All in all this is the most proud I am of any project, towards the back the chevron lace became a little less than perfect, but it isn't something you can tell unless you look obscenely close up. I made this shirt so I could show off my tattoos at Pagan Pride Day, but now I want to wear it everywhere!

'Tall Love' 06-04
Purses are a great way to wiz through your yarn stash. I was in the mood for some cheese, so I made up this pattern combining my love of long necked mammals with soft purples and brown fabric.

'Fuzzy Bunny' 06-04
I *heart* the Sidar Snowflake yarn, it is the perfect intarsia yarn, and the inspiration for this little purse!!

'Blue Summer Cap' 06-04
I have a ton of DK yarn left over from the socks, and a friend who could use a cute hat because of the chemo she is undergoing. I found this pattern in a knitting magazine and found the eyelet pattern just challenging enough.

'Stripe Socks' 06-04
After doing a lot of commission and gift work I didn't post here, I finally did something for me, Socks!! From the 'stitch n bitch' book I modified the stripe pattern using pink and blue baby yarn.

'Spider Shawl' 02-04
For the winter holidays my husband got me some lovely spidery looking yarn. To me it screamed spider, and cozy shawl. This was the result.

'Little Pink Feminist Bag' 02-04
With some extra snowflake yarn, black yarn, and a bit of glitter I made the most kickin' feminist purse ever.

Headscarf/kerchief 1-14-04
I had played around with the 'kitschy kercheif' pattern in the 'Stitch n Bitch' book, and found that while it was easy, it looked too bulky to me. So I made these. The one on the left is version 2.0 which looks so much nicer. Still, I'm proud of both of them.

Hooded Ponch 1-04-04
Interweave Knits Winter 2003 issue had this 'Reverse Bloom Flower Washcloths' design by Cindy Taylor (also in her 'Weekend Knitting' book) and I was a bit nervous to do the pattern in a chenille, I dug out some Bernat so soft acrylic and a size five needle and whipped this up. I have a friend with a manic toddler, so I thought a more sturdy fabric would work well, I'll be getting some 'crystal palace cotton chenille' to make more of these for my Stepmom and more friends. They are just too fun to make!
